Andreas and Ceris Brunzel Roberts
Leonardo's Delicatessen is located in the picturesque mediaeval market town of Ruthin approximately 45 minutes from the walled city of Chester in the lovely Vale of Clwyd.
Founded by a husband and wife team, masterchef Andreas Brunzel's palate and skill is evident in the superb range of deli and bakery items eagerly consumed by customers, whilst Ceris Brunzel-Roberts, taste and eye for quality has produced a shop filled with wonderful culinary finds. Andreas Brunzel originally from Freiburg close to the Swiss border, found himself inspired by his Grandmother's attitude to quality food and cookery. Over the years he has cemented his belief that food should be considered from start to finish, from the sourcing of ingredients to the final presentation of the dish. A veteran chef, he has worked in some of the best known kitchens in the world including the London Hilton Park Lane and the Hyatt Carlton Tower, and has launched and managed several highly successful restaurants worldwide.
Ceris Brunzel Roberts was born and bred in the lovely town of Ruthin but her career in the catering and hospitality industry has taken her around the world, notably to Switzerland where she met Andreas. A former restaurant manager, senior hotel executive and eventually hospitality trainer for the BBC Television Centre in London, she has an unflappable attitude to hospitality and large events, corporate or personal. Her flair and feel for foodie trends has transformed the food scene in Ruthin and made Leonardo's destination shopping.
The Leonardo's Team Key to the huge success of Leonardo's has been the wonderful team of people meeting and serving customers day to day. Known never to give up on an ingredient, shop manager Fiona and her staff aim always to give the customer exactly what they want - even when that means helping them to decide exactly what that might be! The friendly atmosphere and delicious fresh deli and patisserie items brings both locals and tourists in large numbers with queues for lunchtime baguettes often stretching down Well Street.
Friendliness and commitment to genuinely special food and wine, all contribute to the affection in which they are held by their customers. Recently commended by the True Taste of Wales awards for their mouthwatering Steak and Red Wine Pies, Leonardo's has also just launched its first range of own brand deli items.
